Teachers

Wendy Dahl, M.Ed., Founder and Director BSY, E-RYT 500, Retreat Guide

My awareness of Yoga began in the early 90’s as a dancer seeking more balance.  I soon realized that Yoga is the way to transform each moment of our lives into an auspicious journey. The practice inspired so much benevolence in my heart that I dedicated my self and my life to a disciplined practice shortly after my first class.  I practice and teach therapeutic, mindful vinyasa flow to align the breath and body through movement, AcroYoga as a commitment to playfulness and connection to local and global communities, Thai Massage to dive deeper into the giving and receiving of compassion, and meditation to connect to our true essence.  I am also an avid traveler, world wanderer and student of nature, continually in awe of the inter-connectedness and oneness of all living things.  My yoga practice has helped me create more comfort and peace with my body and presence in my mind.  It is from this space that the inspiration for sharing and teaching is born.

I am committed to Yoga as a force for positive change. Having studied Earth, Marine, and Environmental Science for many years, I blend Yoga and ecological awareness as a way to deepen the ultimate meaning of Yoga as union. By treating all beings, as well as nature, with compassion and respect through honoring and encouraging sustainable practices for our bodies and our environment, one can experience true healing. My fluid, energetic, playful, compassionate, and self-affirming teaching style reminds us that we do not need to look elsewhere to experience the joy, peace, harmony, and bliss that resides within.

Bette Plass, E-RYT 200

I have been teaching yoga for eight years after completing my 200 hour training and I am just finishing my 300 hour training.  I specialize in gentle, therapeutic and restorative yoga.  I have studied with David Lurey, Gabriel Halpern, Matthew Sanford, Todd Norian and Betsy Downing.

When I was one year old, polio weakened my legs and made walking normally a constant challenge.  Practicing yoga for over 40 years has helped me cope with stiff muscles and pain and improved my posture. Yoga helped me lead a very exciting and rewarding life including many careers. As I have aged, I have faced additional physical challenges and have decided my goal in life is to age with grace and dignity and just in case that fails (and I know it will) rely on a good sense of humor. I believe there is a yoga practice for everyone.  I encourage my students to listen and focus on what their bodies need today, to strive to become a compassionate yet determined caregiver of their own body and to get in touch with all that is beautiful within them, their glorious spirit.

B.S. in Psychology, Graduate Work in Group Therapy and Experiential Education, Juris Doctorate, Admitted to the Illinois Bar, Personal Coaching Certificate, Professor in Leadership Training and Group Dynamics, Founder of Bette Plass & Associates, Ltd., E-RYT 200, Founder of Nurturing Yoga.  betplass@gmail.com.
