Do Mar para as Montanhas ~ Eco-Adventure in Brazil

(Post-Carnival Recovery Retreat :)

February 17th – 24, 2018

Florianopolis/Bom Jardim da Serra

With Wendy Dahl M.Ed., E-RYT and Anthony Ippolito, Ph.D.

Get a head start on the spring with this activity based meditation and yoga eco-adventure in the culturally and ecologically diverse gem of Southern Brazil.  During our week in the south, we will seize countless opportunites to practice yoga and meditation in unique locations, while immersed in the gracious irresistable culture and the stunning natural beauty of this region.  Colorful fishing villages ornament verdant Atlantic Rain Forest while the neighboring mountain plateaus are rolling and picturesque with the robust but gentle Gaucho, South American cowboy culture.

We will explore by foot and sailboat the most beautiful beaches in Florianõpolis, recently chosen as one of the top five places to visit in the world and the best place to live in Brazil.  Then we head towards the mountains breaking to raft through lush Atlantic rainforest.  The journey continues up the chiseled mountains of the Serra Geral to the Pousada Morro Grande, a 5th generation working ranch in Bom Jardim da Serra.  Here we’ll horseback ride through rainbows of native wildflowers, majestic Brazilian Pine forests, swim in the crystalline waters of the many waterfalls, rapel into a canyon, and hike through the surreal forms of rare and endemic giant tree ferns.  We will visit the Serra do Rio do Rastro, recently voted the most beautiful road in the world.  We’ll feast on the famous Brazilian style barbeque, dance the lively traditional Gaucho dances, and be swept away in the warm atmosphere of the traditional Gaucho lifestyle.

Ignite Your Primal Connection: Energizing Cultural and Natural Adventures in The Lost World

With Wendy Dahl M.Ed., E-RYT and Anthony Ippolito, Ph.D.

Dates: Thanksgiving week, 2018

Join us on this meditation and yoga expedition into the remote and unique Kamarata Valley within Canaima National Park in Southeastern Venezuela.  The region is an unparalleled wonderland from any perspective that one takes.  Anthropologists have been enthralled with the indigenous Pemón people, the “society without government”, that is embedded between the ominous, energizing, table topped tepui-mountains that fascinate geologists and poets alike.  The tepuis are some of the oldest geological formations on the planet and were first brought to the wider public attention in 1912 by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel, The Lost World.  Clouds bathe the tops of the tepuis, bursting like giant rain barrels, endlessly overflowing and erupting from every split and notch in the mountainsides.  Thousands of waterfalls carve through the lush forests.  We will hike to several spectacular and sacred canyons and waterfalls.  We will travel via dugout canoe to Angel Falls, the tallest waterfall in the world.  This waterfall cascades for almost a kilometer, 2 ½ times the height of the Empire State Building, and is a breathtaking testament to the height and magnitude of the tepuis.  Come practice and explore with us amidst this wonderfully friendly and humble culture, awe-inspiring geological wonders, and lush deep forests which define the primordial, sublime energy of this magical place.
